We’re three weeks into January and I decided to do a blog post of some of my favorite images from this past year. As I looked back at the family pictures and weddings I’ve been able to photograph I was a little overwhelmed. We started out 2017 in California and ended 2017 in Indiana, with so much change in between it’s difficult to even process some of it. While we absolutely love Indiana and know 100% this is where God has our family, that sweetness comes with a little sadness.
I’ll be honest, I took for granted the family we had surrounding us as well as the friendships that had taken root in my 37 years of living in California. (I know you’re all thinking…wait you’re 37? I know, crazy….wait…I’m actually 38, sheesh). Anyway, I think about all the years of carpool, birthday parties, afternoon hikes, playdates, Sunday afternoon lunches, Super Bowl parties, holidays, anniversaries, road trips and last but not least and my absolute favorite trips to the beach. Just the thought almost makes me laugh out loud, because I’m sitting here in the office staring at the snow outside my window. But then I realized something, the next 38+ years of living in Indiana will fill with those same types of memories, just different faces. Moving is sort of like having another baby, just without the whole pregnancy thing. And the only thing expanding this time will be my heart, thank the GOOD Lord for that. New faces, new places, new trips, new birthday’s to remember, new memories written right along side the old memories. And that friends, makes me smile and brings a whole lot of sweetness to my sadness.
This is a post of my favorite images and you might notice some familiar faces and lots of new faces, but hopefully you see the sweet moments captured.
Also, I want to say thank-you to all the clients and friends who’ve invited me into their homes and lives to document the chapter they’re living. From maternity pictures to baby showers, to 1st birthday parties to senior pictures and weddings, I can’t express my gratitude enough. You’ve made all these sweet memories for me to reflect on throughout the year and I hope you smile as you look thru them.
